Q2. Explain how each of the following is used to create effects:

Soundtrack

The sound track is used to create effects for the audience to create a tense atmosphere that is relevant and fits the genre of the film. When cage is introduced into the film, the background music is a synchronous sound and this is where you, as cage is going into battle. But as it is a battle sound, gun shots and explosions are heard and this is a non-diegetic sound, and there being linked together. This this affects the audience because when they hear guns and explosions, it normally means something bad is going to happen. When cage who is the protagonist is running through the beach, the soundtrack is just a beat that getting repeated and each beat gets faster and this makes the audience believe that something bad is going to as it keeps getting faster.

Editing

Just before cage is taken by the French army, the editing is slow, this is create a tense atmosphere, and this makes the audience feel that something bad is going to happen. When the fighters get onto the beach, the editing speeds up, this is because the scenes are edited together using lots of different shots cut together, this is because a lot of movement is happening on the in the fight scene, this can then  build tension on the audience. Cross-cut editing is also used on the beach, this is when it goes from one action to another, this will build suspense on the audience because there is more than one fighting action.
